How it works
How North Jersey Local works
Merchants participate in planned local campaigns. Residents learn about or access approved offers. Eligible approved campaigns can support community organizations — not everything is launched yet.
Merchants participate
Local businesses join planned co-op mail campaigns and, optionally, add QR-powered digital promotions.
Residents access offers
Nearby customers learn about or access approved local offers — free mobile coupons and prepaid discounted vouchers.
Communities can benefit
Eligible approved campaigns may support school and community organizations through qualifying purchases.
Local Offers
Free coupons and prepaid vouchers
Two kinds of local offer — each with its own terms. Examples below are explanatory, not available merchant listings.
Free mobile coupon
No upfront payment is required to claim it. The customer claims the offer, receives a mobile coupon, and presents it to the merchant. The qualifying purchase and the merchant's terms still apply.
Free appetizer with qualifying pizza purchase
A free mobile coupon — no upfront payment is required to claim it. The customer claims the offer, receives a mobile coupon, and presents it to the merchant. The qualifying purchase and the merchant's terms still apply.
Prepaid discounted voucher
The customer purchases the package, receives a digital voucher, and initially redeems it with the merchant. The merchant tracks all remaining sessions. The platform does not track partial redemptions.
10 fitness sessions for $149
A prepaid discounted voucher — the customer purchases the package, receives a digital voucher, and initially redeems it with the merchant. The merchant tracks all remaining sessions. The platform does not track partial redemptions or remaining sessions.
Co-op Mailers
Shared neighborhood direct mail
Multiple local merchants share space on a single 9×12 advertising mailer, sent along selected carrier routes. Initial cadence is quarterly per market — not guaranteed readership, complete household coverage, impressions, or customers.
Two distribution sizes are planned: 5,000 pieces and 10,000 pieces. Capacity for a single campaign is a maximum of 16 medium-equivalent units (a medium placement is 1 unit; a large placement is 2).

SmartMail Connect
Where Print Meets Digital.
An optional add-on that can include a campaign-specific QR code on a printed advertisement, leading to a mobile offer. It links a physical mailer to an online coupon or prepaid voucher.
Proposed upgrade pricing is not shown publicly. This add-on is labeled proposed / upcoming until owner-confirmed launch.

Hometown Gives
Shop Local. Give Back. Grow Together.
A proposed fundraising concept: eligible purchases of participating merchant vouchers could generate agreed affiliate commissions for approved school or community organizations. The existing platform handles attribution and commission calculation.
No school approvals, partnerships, logos, fundraising totals, or contribution percentages are shown. Ordinary free coupon claims do not automatically generate donations. The program is in development.
